Turkish Yogurt Dessert with Pistachios and Honey Recipe
A simple yet very aromatic dessert made with thick yogurt, honey, pistachios, and a touch of lemon zest. In Turkey, similar desserts are often served after lunch instead of heavy cakes, especially on warmer days. The flavor is reminiscent of yogurt with honey and dried fruit, but with a more oriental pistachio accent.
This dessert combines the simplicity of everyday yogurt with the luxurious flavor of pistachios and honey, inspired by Turkish cuisine. It’s light yet satisfying, requires no baking, and can be prepared in just a few minutes.
Chef's tips
Use the thickest, creamiest yogurt you can find – Greek-style or strained yogurt works best and gives the dessert a rich, velvety texture. If your honey has crystallized, warm it gently in a water bath so it becomes liquid and easy to drizzle.
How to serve
Serve well chilled on warm days, ideally in small glasses or dessert bowls. You can finish each portion with an extra pinch of cinnamon or a few whole pistachios for decoration.
Ingredients
- yogurt - 500 g
- honey - 4 tablespoons
- pistachios - 50 g
- lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
- vanilla - 0.5 teaspoons
- cinnamon - 0.25 teaspoons
- grapes - 100 g
Preparation
- Roughly chop the pistachios with a knife. If you are using other nuts, chop them as well.
- Wash the grapes, pat them dry, and cut them in half.
- Place the yogurt in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of honey, the vanilla extract, grated lemon zest, and ground cinnamon.
- Mix thoroughly until everything is well combined and the yogurt is smooth.
- Taste and add a little more honey if needed, depending on how sweet you like your dessert.
- Divide the yogurt between 4 glasses or small bowls.
- Top with the grape halves, sprinkle with the chopped pistachios, and drizzle with the remaining 2 tablespoons of honey.
- Serve immediately or chill in the fridge for 30 minutes if you prefer a very cold dessert.
Storage
Deser przechowuj w lodówce, najlepiej bez owoców na wierzchu; dodaj je świeżo przed podaniem, żeby nie puściły zbyt dużo soku.
