About me

Welcome to Makra World Cuisines! 🍳🌍

This blog started in December 2025 with a simple idea: I wanted to create a place where recipes from around the world are described normally, clearly, and without unnecessary complications. Here you will find well-known, classic, and popular dishes, but also recipes that may surprise you with their flavor, ingredients, or way of preparation.

I enjoy world cuisines, but I do not want cooking to feel reserved only for people with years of experience, expensive equipment, and access to ingredients from the other side of the internet. That is why I try to choose and describe recipes in a way that makes them as accessible as possible — both in terms of cost and ingredients that can realistically be found.

My story

My cooking journey began relatively recently, but it quickly became something I truly enjoy. Over time, I discovered that cooking is not only about food itself, but also a great way to learn about other cultures, flavors, and everyday habits of people from different parts of the world.

By nature, I am quite precise, and I approach recipes in the same way. I do not like guessing when something can be explained more simply. That is why I try to write the recipes on this blog in a practical way: with clear ingredient amounts, simple steps, and descriptions of what should be happening in the pan, pot, or oven.

I remember very well how unhelpful advice like “add a little”, “cook for a while”, “season to taste” can be. For someone who has been cooking for years, it may be obvious. For someone who is just starting out, it often means almost nothing. That is why I try to explain things as simply and practically as possible. If I ever simplify something too much — or, on the other hand, do not describe something clearly enough — let me know 🙂

At the same time, I do not treat recipes as strict instructions that must never be changed. Everyone has slightly different tastes. Some people prefer dishes to be spicier, others milder, saltier, more sour, or sweeter. If you feel that something needs more or less of an ingredient, adjust it your way. Cooking works best when a recipe is a starting point, not a limitation.

On this blog, you may sometimes find very basic explanations of simple cooking steps. I do this on purpose. I want Makra World Cuisines to be friendly also for people who are just beginning to cook and do not necessarily know exactly what “sauté the onion”, “reduce the sauce”, or “cook over medium heat” really means. It is from these basics that real confidence in the kitchen begins.
